Pershing Gardens in Stickney, IL is currently seeking a Certified Dietary Manager. The ideal candidate would be a graduate of a dietetic technician or dietetic assistant training program approved by American Dietetic Association and completion of a state-agency-approved 90-hour course in Food Service supervision with on-the-job counseling by a dietitian.
Responsibilities of the Dietary Manager
Plan, organize, staffing, direct, coordinate, report, budget, and physical management of the dietary department’s employees and equipment in a way that the dietary services of the facility shall be maintained in accordance with established policies
Support the facility’s philosophy of care and strive to achieve its goals and objectives
Establish, in conjunction with the dietary consultant, dietary policies and procedures and maintain their currency with new state and federal regulations, as well as all departmental job descriptions
Visit with residents upon admission to make an initial nutritional diet assessment and to ascertain food preferences and give instructions to residents, family, and staff regarding dietary requirements and restrictions
Determine an initial plan of care for each resident and update the assessment as needed
Perform other dietician related duties as directed by the Administrator
Requirements of the Dietary Manager
Graduate of a dietetic technician or dietetic assistant training program approved by American Dietetic Association
Completion of a state-agency-approved 90-hour course in Food Service supervision with on-the-job counseling by a dietitian
Physically and mentally capable of performing routine job duties
Personable with residents, families, and staff in a professional and cooperative manner while showing compassion, tolerance, and understanding for the elderly
Excellent administrative, managerial, organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills including leadership qualities that motivate and direct the dietary staff.
Knowledge of JCAHO, IDPA, IDPH, OSHA, OBRA, county, city, and state regulations as well as standards of accrediting agencies as they pertain to dietary services
