Rehabilitation Therapy

Our rehabilitation team focuses on short term intensive physical and medical services, provided typically after hospitalization or surgery. We provide physical, occupational, and speech therapy seven days a week.  Our services include a customized therapy treatment plan for the short term resident after hospitalization or surgery.  The goal is to restore or achieve optimal movement and potential through intensive therapy.  We set and work toward goals for the successful and safe return of the resident to the community.

Our philosophy is to restore each resident as quickly as possible to his or her highest level of functioning and independence.

The Cardiac Specialty Program focuses on improving the health and quality of life for residents with any heart condition and vascular disease.

Respite Care

Come try out living with the best that Pershing Gardens has to offer and let your loved ones know you are under excellent care. This is an opportunity to give the family care giver a reprieve and still provide you with the care you deserve. A respite stay is also a great way to get to know what Pershing Gardens provides.

Hospice Services

Hospice care is meant to provide an intensive level of care, typically on a short term basis, that cannot be managed in other settings.  The program covers pain management, along with emotional and spiritual support, to patients during critical stages of their illness or disease. The focus is on care and not cure. In addition to high quality 24 hour nursing care, a resident will received professional care management by a dedicated team that includes physicians, nurses, social workers, certified nursing assistants and chaplains.

IV Services

Our nurses are certified in IV therapy and are fully trained in administering medications intravenously.  IV (intravenous) services ensure that through various care methods such as porta-catheters, Hickman catheters, PICC and mid-line catheters, we are able to administer the necessary care for our residents.

In-House Diagnostics

Providing in-house diagnostics means fewer trips and less time spent in a medical center. More time can be spent in the comfort of Pershing Gardens. In-house diagnostics translates to speedy responses for quicker decisions on care needs. These diagnostics range from x-ray, EKG, Doppler, and Ultrasound.

Wound Care

Wound Care is performed by trained staff that change dressings and educate residents and families on proper treatment.  In addition to assessing wounds, staff review lab values, hydration, nutrition, activity level and positioning.  Wound care nurses work closely with wound care physicians regarding timely changes in treatment to best meet the individual resident’s needs.  They evaluate residents with a variety of conditions including pressure ulcers, surgical wounds, ostomies, and rashes.  Treatments encompass dressing changes but may also include wound vac therapy and special pressure relieving mattresses or cushions.

Our skin is the largest organ of our body and requires special care.  The wound care nurse takes a holistic approach to not only treat an existing wound, but to prevent skin issues moving forward. This prevention is key to maintaining healthy skin.  Wound care management involves an interdisciplinary team which meets regularly to discuss and implement a team approach to the resident’s wound care.
